Position Summary
Maple Counseling is seeking a passionate and dedicated Outreach Coordinator to support our wildfire relief efforts, specifically serving the Jewish community of Los Angeles. This position will play a critical role in connecting Maple Counseling with synagogues, Jewish schools, community centers, and other key organizations to ensure that those affected by the wildfires have access to vital mental health support. The Outreach Coordinator will oversee shelter visits, build relationships with influential community leaders, and coordinate MapleMobile’s deployment to areas in need. This role ensures that the Jewish community and broader Los Angeles population receive accessible and compassionate mental health services during this time of crisis.Essential Tasks
These are core functions of the job. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Identify, establish, and strengthen partnerships with synagogues, Jewish schools, Jewish Family Service agencies, and other community organizations to raise awareness about mental health services available through Maple Counseling.
- Act as a liaison between Maple Counseling and key stakeholders, including rabbis, Jewish community leaders, and local nonprofit organizations.
- Support collaborative outreach efforts with first responders, Red Cross shelters, and social service agencies to provide coordinated mental health services during wildfire relief and other emergencies.
MapleMobile Coordination & Outreach Efforts
- Coordinate the deployment of MapleMobile to shelters, synagogues, and community centers, ensuring efficient distribution of mental health resources.
- Coordinate volunteer therapists and support staff accompanying MapleMobile, ensuring proper scheduling and logistics.
- Oversee the design, printing, and distribution of outreach materials specific to the Jewish community and broader wildfire-affected areas.
- Assist in identifying individuals in need of immediate psychological first aid and refer them to Maple Counseling’s clinical services.
- Track engagement metrics and document community needs to assess the impact of outreach efforts.
- Provide reports on outreach activities, program outcomes, and community needs to Maple Counseling leadership.
- Collaborate with the development team on funding opportunities, grant reporting, and donor engagement related to the wildfire response.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support MapleMobile’s mental health relief efforts.
- Coordinate with community partners to organize and distribute food donations and other essential resources.
- Ensure outreach initiatives are culturally sensitive and align with Jewish values and Maple Counseling’s mission
Desired Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the Los Angeles Jewish community, including its institutions, synagogues, and cultural values.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience building relationships in faith-based and nonprofit settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention principles, particularly within the Jewish community.
- Experience coordinating mobile outreach or community-based programming.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, crisis-response environment.
- Familiarity with Jewish communal organizations, such as Jewish Federation, Jewish Family Service, and local synagogues.
- Bilingual (Hebrew or Yiddish proficiency) preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, community health, health services or a closely related field is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of coordination and outreach experience.
- Any combination of skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform this job effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse populations and service providers.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
- Experience conducting research and utilizing internet search tools for information gathering.
- Knowledge of mental health services and a passion for supporting community-based mental health programs is a plus.
Job Requirements

Physical Requirements
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to move within the office environment and ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to perform general office functions.
- Ability to communicate continuously by speech and hearing.
- Visual acuity (close, distant, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus and view accurate color perception and objects at near distances) needed for detail work and computer use.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
